Parade kicks off at 10:30 a.m. Saturday



MATTOON — Don’t put the Bagelfest parade schedule in the hole.

Show up in time for lineup by 9:30 a.m. Saturday, organizers advise. And know where you go in the lineup for the procession that steps off at 21st and Western at 10:30 a.m. on the busiest day of Bagelfest. Showing up on time is necessary because more than 100 vehicles, floats and marching groups will be in the parade down Western and Broadway avenues.

The following is the lineup for the 2007 Mattoon Bagelfest Parade, which honors the 80th Birthday of Lender’s Bagels.

The entries on the south side of Western Avenue 2100 block: Mattoon Police Department, Mattoon Fire Department, Lender’s truck, marching unit and float.

The units for the north side of Western’s 2100 block: Lincoln Fire Protection District entries, Lincoln Fire Protection District Ladies Auxiliary, Cooks Mills Fire District, Wabash Fire Protection District, 2007 Miss Teen Bagelfest.

The 2200 block lineup, south side: 2007 Miss Pre-Teen Bagelfest, 2007 Little Miss Bagelfest, 2007 Bagelfest Miss Congeniality, 2007 Bagelfest Queen Pageant contestants, 2006 Bagelfest Queens, WMCI Beautiful Bagel Babies, Ansar Shrine Cycle Patrol, and on the northside, Shelby County Safety Squad, Original Fire Patrol, Mattoon Mayor, Mattoon City Commissioners, Coles County Democratic Party, Coles County State’s Attorney Steve Ferguson and Mattoon Arts Council.

The lineup along the 2300 block on the south side: Marshall Avenue Christian Church, Coles County Sheriff, Mattoon Furniture, Sunburst Queen, 2006 Miss Coles County, Coles County Fair Little Miss contestants and Niemeyer Kubota. The north side of Western’s 2300 block includes Coles County Clerk Sue Rennels, High School Cheerleaders, HPR of Sullivan, Relay for Life, AFLAC and Palm Terrace of Mattoon.

The 2400 block entries on the south side: True Deliverance Community Church, Security Finance, Altamont Schutzenfest, Mattoon High 12 Club, Pumpkin Works and Wal-Mart. The northside entries are Mattoon Health Care, K.C. Summers Toyota, State Sen. Dale Righter, Balloon Lagoon, Charles Baker and Jessica Ames and Hesse Landscaping.

The south side of 2500 block: First National Bank, Miss Arcola, Miss Teen Arcola, Junior Miss Arcola, Terminix and Mattoon Academy of Gymnastics and Dance. The northside along the 2500 block has St. John’s Lutheran School, Maurice’s, Monical’s Pizza, Common Links Mr. Skyrocket and Ms. Skyrocket, Bidwell Candies, Nash Crane and American Red Cross of Coles and Clark Counties.

The south side of the 2600 block: Lincoln Springs Resort, Second Missionary Baptist Church, Mattoon Free Methodist Church, William Moran Equipment, Kacey Cain and dog, and Praise Assembly of God.

On the north side of the 2600 block: Lincoln Log Cabin Summer Youth, Mattoon Area PADS, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Land of Lincoln Credit Union, Mattoon Mops & Teen Mops, Isaak’s Family Fun and Sun Loan Company.

The 2700 block entries: Friends to elect Ed Schniers Coroner, Regional Behavioral Health Network, Leisure Pools, Neoga High School Cheerleaders, Pampered Pet in home day care or evening care, Elmo’s used cars, Junior Miss Neoga, all on the southside, and World Finance, Sluggers 10 and Under Traveling baseball team, Titus Plumbing, Central Illinois Physical Therapy, Ben Tire, 2006 Cumberland County Junior Miss Queen and Taste of Italy.

Entries lining up along the south side of the 2800 block: Broadway Cafe, One Wheel Addicts, plus any late entries, plus Mowry Horse Training, and other horse entries, Mickey Overbeck and Randy Jackson.
