Calling all artists and crafts people! Eastern Illinois University’s Celebration: A Festival of the Arts is looking for those interested in participating at this year’s Arts Fair scheduled to take place April 21 and 22, 2018.

The Art Fair will feature the work of artists who work in a variety of mediums, including ceramics, pottery, drawing, glass, jewelry, photography, printmaking, sculpture, watercolor, painting, fibers, and mixed media. “We like to feature a wide arrange of art of festival guests,” said Dan Crews, Celebration Director. Only original work is featured at the show. An on-line application can be obtained on the Celebration website at

The festival is also interested in those artists who would be interested in demonstrating how they create their art.

The festival has space for 50 art booths. Each art booth will be allocated a 12-foot by 12-foot area to display their art. The hours of the Art Show are Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

In addition to the two-day Art Show, the festival features a wide array of arts activities, including outdoor and indoor stages featuring live music performances, theatre presentations, children’s art activities, exhibitions, theatre, a great line up of food vendors, and more. Admission to the festival is free. Rain or shine, Celebration makes its return to EIU’s campus April 20, 21 and 22.

The Art Show application deadline is April 6. For more information, contact the festival planning office at (217) 581-8513 or email

A tradition since 1978, Celebration returns to the Charleston campus after a two-year absence. The annual Spring arts festival was cancelled in 2016 and 2017 due to the fiscal crisis facing the State of Illinois.

Celebration is sponsored by the Eastern Illinois University College of Arts and Humanities in conjunction with the City of Charleston, and the Campaign for Celebration.
