Business owners, employees and community residents are invited to attend the Community Update Breakfast on Thursday, Nov. 2, from 7:30 to 9:15 a.m. The breakfast is hosted by the Charleston and Mattoon Chambers of Commerce.

The confirmed guest speaker for the breakfast will be Lieutenant Governor Evelyn Sanguinetti. She will speak about the current “state of the state” in Illinois. Time has also been allotted for questions from the audience after the Lt. Governor’s presentation.

The breakfast will take place in the banquet facility at the Unique Suites Hotel, 920 West Lincoln Avenue in Charleston. Individual tickets and tables of 10 are available. Seating is limited and pre-registration is required by October 27.

Tickets are $20 per person for Mattoon and Charleston Chamber members and $30 per person for non-members. Community residents are welcome to attend.

A free informational meeting to learn more about three travel programs being offered by the Charleston Chamber will be held next Wednesday, Oct. 25 at 10 a.m. in the basement meeting room at the Charleston City Hall, 520 Jackson Avenue in Charleston.

The travel programs have departure dates in 2018 and are being offered in partnership with Chamber Explorations. Tom Summers, the travel representative will present a slide presentation with all the details of the tours.

The first trip is to the California wine country for 7 days beginning April 25. Travelers will start out in the San Francisco bay area and go on from there to Sacramento and end their tour at Lake Tahoe.

Highlights include two rail experiences; a winery tour and tasting; a San Francisco Bay cruise; a Paddlewheeler cruise on Lake Tahoe; and time in Sacramento, Sausalito and Virginia City.

The all-inclusive price for the California wine country tour is $2,799 per person, double occupancy including round trip airfare from Chicago.

The second tour is to New England in the fall from Oct. 3-10. Travelers will tour all the famous sites in Boston, enjoy a rail journey to the top of Mt. Washington, soak in the spectacular views along the Kancamagus Highway and see the fall foliage in Vermont and Maine.

The all-inclusive price for the New England fall tour is $2,975 per person, double occupancy including round trip airfare from Chicago.

The final trip is a chance to experience paradise on Oahu, Maui and the Big Island of Hawaii for nine days departing Chicago on Nov. 7.

Highlights include Pearl Harbor, Volcanoes National Park, Punaluu Volcanic Beach, Mount Haleakala National Park and a traditional Hawaiian Luau. Includes three whole days of leisure in paradise on your own.

The all-inclusive price for the Hawaii Island adventure is $3,995 per person, double occupancy including round trip airfare from Chicago.
