CHARLESTON -- The Charleston First Baptist Church will host this year’s Back to School Shoe Distribution. This annual event has been hosted previously by the Civic Association, which has recently disbanded. Funds from this organization were transferred to First Baptist, which offered to keep this community outreach going.
This event provides new shoes for needy children heading back to school. Shoe voucher applicants will need to come to the church on Tuesday, Aug. 1, between 9 a.m.- 3 p.m. to apply for a shoe voucher. A valid photo ID or license is required and the children must attend Charleston school district. Once applications have been reviewed and verified, the actual shoe vouchers will be distributed on Tuesday, Aug. 8, between 9 a.m.-3 p.m. (while funds last). With a shoe voucher, a recipient will go to the Charleston Walmart for the pair of shoes.
First Baptist Church is located at 2800 University Ave. in Charleston. Tax exempt donations for this event are being accepted; please make checks payable to: First Baptist Church /Shoe Distribution.
