Paparazzi are tracking Katie Holmes in Chicago as she films an FBI drama pilot for the Fox network.
"Katie Holmes spotted going makeup free while in Chicago" read one tabloid headline Friday. Holmes, 39, was photographed wearing a coat and holding her phone in front of the Four Seasons Hotel.
Also Friday: "Katie Holmes gets into character as an FBI agent in Chicago." The pictures showed Holmes wearing a badge, holding a disposable coffee cup during downtime on set and talking on the phone while exiting her trailer.
Holmes has been filming the pilot around town since late last month. She plays FBI Special Agent Hazel Otis, whose career is in jeopardy when her affair with a prominent general ("Big Little Lies" star James Tupper) comes to light.
Christian Camargo, a "Dexter" alum, plays Otis' bitter TV reporter husband. Ian Harding, of "Pretty Little Liars" fame, plays Otis' preppy co-worker. Rose Rollins ("The L Word"), Paul Walter Hauser ("I, Tonya") and Evanston-raised actor Mark Moses ("Desperate Housewives") also star.
Fox network representatives have not announced if the pilot will be picked up to series. The project comes from Ilene Chaiken, former showrunner for "Empire" (also filmed in Chicago), and Melissa Scrivner Love ("Person of Interest").
The pilot shot over the weekend in Hinsdale, the birthplace of Holmes' former fiance, "American Pie" star Chris Klein. Holmes has also been photographed on set with her 11-year-old daughter, Suri Cruise, and at the Art Institute.
Harding, meanwhile, reunited with his "Pretty Little Liars" co-star Lucy Hale at Nico Osteria last month. There was no need for paparazzi, though, because Hale posted a photo on her Instagram.
