MATTOON -- The American Cancer Society Bark For Life® Of Coles County 2015 is planned for May 2 at Peterson Park. The event will start with walking and activities at 10 a.m. Registration opens at 9 a.m.

The 6th annual Bark For Life of Coles County is an event to help raise funds for the fight against cancer. All funds raised go to the American Cancer Society. During this event dogs and their owners walk approximately a one-mile course, play games and fight back against cancer. All are invited to attend.

During this year’s event there will be the games like Bobbing for Biscuits, Dogs Have Talent, Musical Sit, Costume Contest, and Top Dog, during which the owners describe why their dog is the best. There will also be a King and Queen of Bark crowned. There will also be vendor booths sell various items.

There is a $25 registration fee before the event and $35 registration on the day of the event. Like Relay For Life, all participates are encouraged to fund raise and help “take a bite out of cancer." The event will be open to the public. For more information, visit www.relayforlife.org/barkcolesil or like us on facebook. It is required that all dogs be leashed, only one dog per walker, and current on their shots.

Anyone who would like to help, participate, or be a vendor in this event in fighting cancer, contact Alicia Pettyjohn, aliciapettyjohn@cancer.org, or by phone at 217-356-9076.
