CHARLESTON -- Coles County Art Council has recognized Shannon Johnson as this group's April Artist.
Her artwork is now on display at the Charleston City Hall in the main lobby in downtown Charleston and will be through this month.
Johnson came to Coles County to attend Eastern Illinois University, where she graduated with a bachelor’s. She and her husband, Daniel Johnson, raise their family in Charleston. She has been a public-school art educator, a business owner, and a part of the Art Council in the past.
The artist finds her creativity in her diversity of art media and takes inspiration from her political views. Johnson feels it is a way to consider her own beliefs and a way to express her thoughts. Se is an accomplished artist, and has been able to have her own studio that allowed her to teach lessons and do public outreach. She is excited to share that she is happily creating new artwork.
