Linking generations. Enhancing lives.

Are you looking to learn more about the businesses and people in your community this New Year? Are you looking to make new friendships? What about becoming more physically/mentally active, learning a new skill/hobby, playing a variety of games, or just relaxing and enjoying a free movie on us?! Well you’re in luck because those are just a few of the things we can accommodate you with here at your LifeSpan Center. Almost all of our programs are available to people of all ages (yes, that includes you parents and children!) and we would love for you to come out and experience what we have to offer.

One program I want to particularly focus on is your LifeSpan Family Theater Movie Days. We provide free movies Tuesday through Friday at 1 p.m. and each day of the month we will show a different movie. January’s movie days have themes to them: Tuesday- Adventure, Wednesday- Mix & Match, Thursday- Classics, and Friday- Animation/kid’s movie. Something that has been kind of a mission of mine since taking over and having a daughter is making the Friday movie an animation movie for families to come out and enjoy together. The Friday animation/kid’s movie theme will be the only one that remains the same all year. Those movies are going to be Trolls (1/5), The Boss Baby (1/12), Deep (1/19), and Sing (1/26). What better way to start off the New Year than by starting a new tradition?! We are always open to movie requests and suggestions. As long as the movie has a PG-13 rating or below, we will always do our best to accommodate that request. We will even supply the popcorn and lemonade, courtesy of Copper Creek Cottages and Hilltop Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Use the information below on how to get a full listing of all January’s movies.

Not only do we offer this wonderful program, but we have numerous volunteer and rental opportunities as well. Each month we will have a monthly newsletter, “Connections”, with an activities calendar inside. To receive one, call us at 217-639-5150 and get put on our monthly email list, or just come in and pick one up anytime. If you’re social media/computer savvy, it’s also listed on our Facebook page, Coles County Council on Aging LifeSpan Center, and website at www.colescouncilonaging.org. Does all of this sound good to you, but you just aren’t sure how to get out here? Well, we’ve got that covered too… our Dial-A-Ride Public Transportation Program would love to assist you in your transportation needs. Give them a call at 217-639-5169 or 1-800-500-5505 today. We hope to see you soon!

The Coles County Council on Aging offices are located at the LifeSpan Center, 11021 E. Co. Rd. 800 N., Charleston. The telephone number is 217-639-5150 for the Coles County Council on Aging and LifeSpan Center. Come join us each weekday at noon for “Lunch at LifeSpan.”
