FORT WORTH, Texas -- Our beloved son, Anthony Owen Buser, passed away at age 49 on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at Southwest Nursing and Rehabilitation in Fort Worth, Texas. He will be missed, especially his positively contagious smile and laugh. He had an ability to build rapport with most everyone he met. Interacting with others became his vocation as he worked in food service and management.
Tony was born on September 25, 1968, in Olney, IL to Anthony L. and Jetta N. (Nichols) Buser. Shortly after graduating from Unity High School, Tolono, IL in 1986, he attended Parkland College and later on transferred to the U of I in Urbana/Champaign, IL. His positive attitude kept him motivated and helped him as he studied and worked. He made friends with coworkers and associates wherever he went.
Tony enjoyed spending time at the farm with his Grandparents and later took pride in helping his Dad make sure it would last for the next generations. He enjoyed music of all kinds, with a particular fondness for Stevie Nicks. He loved to cook, and had a gift of making those around him feel special. He will be missed by all.
Tony is preceded in death by his mother, Aunt Judith Tolen, Uncle Rock Nichols, and maternal grandfather, William Nichols. His paternal grandparents, Owen and Mariam Buser, great-grandparents, Ruel and Eva Buser, and William and Mabel Cole preceded him in death.
He is survived by his father, stepmother, Debra A. Buser, and sisters, Mary Dalton and Anna Buser, and his extended family on the paternal side. He is also survived by his maternal grandmother, Hilah Nichols, and cousin, Valerie Boldrey and extended family.
Tony’s dear friend, Kesha Riley of Fort Worth, Texas, assisted him prior to and during his final days. She coordinated a memorial for Tony’s friends there at the Samaritan House in Fort Worth. A private memorial service will be held for family in Coles County at a later date. Memorials may be made to samaritanhouse.org.
