MATTOON -- Carolene “Charlie” Carter, 67, of Mattoon, IL, passed away September 3, 2017, at her residence.
Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, September 16, at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, Mattoon, IL 61938, with Pastor Jeremy Morton officiating. Burial will follow at Dodge Grove Cemetery in Mattoon, IL 61938. Visitation will be held prior at 10:00 A.M. till the time of service at the funeral home.
Carolene was born September 22, 1949, Mattoon, IL, the daughter of Grover and Mavis (Larimer) Carter. “Charlie” graduated from Mattoon High School and was employed at Illinois Consolidated Communications for forty years in various positions.
Carolene leaves behind her devoted brother, James Carter and wife Kathryn of Lincoln, IL; three nieces, Jamie Goade and husband Jonathon of Wheaton, IL, Kami Turnell and husband Matt of Hingham, MA, and Nikki Rice and husband Adam of Decatur, IL; great grand-nieces and nephews, Emily and Erica Voelker, Charlie, Grant and Jack Goade, and Will and Sam Turnell. Carolene also leaves extended family members and dear friends Theresa Nelson Swango and husband Max of Charleston, IL. She is preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
The family would like to give a deep and special heartfelt “Thank you” to Carrie Bridges. She was not only a personal caregiver but a dear friend to Carolene over the years.
