MATTOON -- Constance “Connie” E. Kendall, age 92, of Mattoon passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield.
Funeral services honoring her life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 200 Charleston Avenue, Mattoon, IL 61938 with Pastor Adam Jacobsen officiating. Burial will follow at Dodge Grove Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday at the church. Schilling Funeral Home is assisting the family.
A resident of Mattoon, Illinois since 1951, Connie was born on September 22, 1925 in Roundup, Montana to Elmer and Alwina (Erck) Crosmer. After attending nursing school at the Lutheran School of Nursing in St. Louis, Connie married the late Dr. Edward A. Kendall Jr. on March 1, 1946 and raised her family in Mattoon.
Connie was a loving mother and grandmother who brought joy to others with her gourmet cooking, love of entertaining and beautiful singing. Connie had a deep faith in God and an endless supply of love for her family, friends and community.
Connie will be missed and remembered always by her surviving family, including her daughter, Terri (Terry) Owens of Concord, CA; sons, John (Jane) Kendall and Michael (Lori) Kendall all of Mattoon, IL; brother, Walter (Marge) Crosmer; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Connie was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Edna and Norma; and brothers, Arthur and Elmer.
