MATTOON -- Dolores Ann Bond, age 80, of Mattoon passed away at 6:50 p.m. on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Mattoon Healthcare.
A celebration of her life will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at The Fields Church, 900 Dewitt Avenue East, Mattoon, IL 61938 with Pastor Travis Spencer and Pastor Van Frownfelter officiating. Burial will take place at a later date. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Thursday evening at The Fields Church.
Dolores was born on July 7, 1937 in St. Augustine, FL the daughter of Archibald and Mildred (Ashton) Speissegger. She married the love of her life, Robert Bond on June 10, 1955.
Survivors include her loving husband, Robert Bond of Mattoon, IL; children, Joni (Alan) Thornton and Brett (Lisa) Bond all of Mattoon, IL; grandchildren, Ashley (Jeremy) West of Mattoon, IL, Amanda (Lance) Stockton of Noblesville, IN, Amber (Whit) Lauwers of Charleston, IL, Clayton (Haley) Barnes of Los Angeles, CA, Matthew Barnes (Shanti Goins) of Mattoon, IL, Brittni (Dan) Merkel of Indianapolis, IN and Briana (Ryan) Hendrickson of Mattoon, IL; 10 great grandchildren; sisters, Geri Cooper of Jacksonville, FL, Genette Ward of Las Vegas, NV and Joyce Hinson of Allen, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews. Dolores was preceded in death by her parents.
Dolores was a member of The Fields Church for over 60 years where she was instrumental in the Children’s Ministry, Vacation Bible School and Sunday School. As a young child, Dolores developed a love for God and that continued into her adult life, sharing God’s love with others. Dolores was a homemaker and loving wife, mother and ‘Nannie’ and ‘Nana’ to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved God, her family, her church and her friends. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her. The family would like to thank the staff at Mattoon Healthcare for all of their care and concern for Dolores.
