LERNA -- Donald Lee Hallett, age 88 of Lerna, Illinois, went to see his Heavenly Father on January 24, 2018. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until noon on Monday, January 29, 2018 at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston. Funeral Services will begin at noon on Monday at the funeral chapel with Pastor Whit Lauwers officiating. Burial will follow in Janesville Cemetery. Donations may be made to Carle Hospice or to Salisbury Church and left at the visitation or service or mailed in care of Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL 61920.
Don was born August 7, 1929 in Jewett, Illinois a son of the late Bert and Charlotte (Shafer) Hallett. He married Clara Thompson on June 2, 1951in Champaign, Illinois and she preceded him in death on June 4, 2003. He is survived by three children, Steve Hallett and wife Candi of South Carolina, Debra Hood and husband Mark and Stan Hallett and wife Cheryl, all of Lerna; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and his beloved canine companion, Sandy. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded by all his siblings, Dorothy, Grace, Ethel, Ruth, Opal, Cora, Helen, Howard and Eugene.
Don was employed by Blaw-Knox in Mattoon and was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War.
