MATTOON -- Doris E. Hance, age 93 of Glen Carbon, IL formerly of Mattoon, IL passed away at 5:33 P.M., Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at Meridian Village Senior Living in Glen Carbon, IL.
Graveside funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Sunday, April 15, 2018 at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Mattoon, IL; Reverend Stephanie Johanpeter and Reverend Brian Daily will officiate. Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home is assisting family with arrangements.
Doris was born August 27, 1924 in Humboldt, IL the daughter of the late Ernest R. and Oral E. (Hamilton) Daily. She was a WWII bride, marrying Kenneth Hance on August 22, 1944 in her parents’ home in Cooks Mill, IL; he passed away June 7, 2007. She is survived by her two daughters; Joyce A. Redd and husband Ronald of Edwardsville, IL, Marilyn S. Moresi and husband Robert of St. Louis, MO; one brother, Everett Daily and wife GraceMae of Humboldt, IL; six grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Doris was a lifelong member of The Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Cooks Mill, IL. She was a former secretary at Brown Shoe Factory before dedicating her time to the family farm and daughters along with her husband, Kenneth. She was a member of Coles County Home Extension and Jolly Neighbor Club, where she and friends socialized and played cards. Doris and Kenneth traveled extensively all across the country, enjoying every minute. She was excellent in the kitchen, known for her pecan pie and chicken noodles. Doris enjoyed life, family members and many friends. She brightened the lives of others.
