ARCOLA -- On Thursday, December 28, 2017, Rilla Jean Bradford, wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away at the age of 78 years.
Jean grew up in Central Illinois and spent her adult life living in the small town of Hindsboro. She was outgoing and lively, making her time as a store-owner, bank teller, and church secretary full of opportunities to meet new friends and impact the lives of all those she knew. Jean retired as a homemaker who enjoyed cooking for and entertaining others, and loved telling friends about her latest antique finds. Jean was the greatest “coach’s wife” and spent many nights supporting her husband at the football field; after all these years she would still listen to Arcola Purple Rider games on the radio each Friday night. She poured herself into her friends and her family, especially her granddaughter and great granddaughter, who brought her the utmost joy. She had a passion for serving God and loving others, both of which she did so well.
Jean will be forever remembered by her husband and best friend, Byron, their daughter, Marla Chrisagis and husband Tony, granddaughter Nicole Zuccarelli and husband Gabe, and great granddaughter, Peyton. Jean will also be remembered by her brothers Ed Miller and wife Cheryl, and Terry Miller and wife Catherine, as well as her numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
Waiting for Jean in heaven were her parents, Elwood and Ivy Merle Miller, her in-laws, Chase and Joyce Bradford, and her aunt, Gladys Perkins, whom she thought of as a second mother.
A visitation will be held on Friday, January 5, 2017, from 4:00-7:00pm at Shrader Funeral Home, 204 N. Locust Street, Arcola.
A celebration of Jean’s life will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, January 6, 2017, at Shrader Funeral Home, with pastor Lloyd Johnson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, it was Jean’s wish, should friends desire, as an expression of sympathy, that memorial contributions be made to Byron Bradford to be used for their great grandchild’s college fund.
