MATTOON -- Lois Marie Beverley-Simpson, age 76, of Mattoon passed away at 12:15 p.m. on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at Shelbyville Rehabilitation and Health Center.
Memorial services honoring her life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at Schilling Funeral Home. Burial will take place at a later date. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Lois was born on April 23, 1941 in Ransom, KY the daughter of Frank and Pearl (Dotson) Hager. She married James R. Simpson on November 22, 2008. He survives.
Other survivors include her children, Sharon Peavey of Lawrenceville, GA, Cheryl Ohlund of Effingham, IL, Michelle Burgess of Toledo, IL, Paul Burgess of Mattoon, IL, Les Burgess of Winger, GA, Deedra Kline of Neoga, IL and Craig Beverley of Arlington, TX; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; brothers, Bill Hager and Chuck Williams; and sisters, Patsy Paine and Vera Furry. Lois was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Garland Beverley and eight brothers and sisters.
Lois was employed doing in home health care for many years. She was a crew leader for DeKalb and worked as a school bus driver for Windsor Schools. She enjoyed fishing, dancing, watching football and was an avid poker player and gamer. Lois was dedicated to her family and will be dearly missed by her loved ones.
