MATTOON -- Yvonne Courchen, age 51, passed away in her sleep Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at 8:06 P.M. at her residence.
The visitation will be held at 4:00-7:00 P.M. Monday, October 9, 2017 at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, located at 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL 61938.
Yvonne was born April 27, 1966 in Belton, MO, the daughter of Ronald and Myra (Harrold) Courchen. She is survived by her longtime loving partner, Larry Cowell of Mattoon, IL; one daughter, Megan Turner of Mattoon, IL; two brothers, Andre Courchen and wife Deneitra of Las Vegas, NV, William Courchen and wife Jennifer of Winchester, VA; one sister, Valerie Parker and husband Pedro of Mattoon, IL; and one granddaughter, Ava Quinn Courchen. She is preceded in death by her father, and one brother, George Courchen.
Yvonne was an employee of Morgan’s Meat Market for twenty-five years and former employee of My Store Grocery. Nobody was a stranger, when customers walked through the door, Yvonne’s endearment and warmth made them feel welcome. She was known to socialize and visit with everyone. Yvonne was a member of the American Legion Post 88 Auxiliary of Mattoon, IL; a devout St. Louis Cardinals fan, and thrilled to spend time riding motorcycles. Yvonne took pride in her family, especially granddaughter Ava; she was the light of her life. Yvonne will be missed and remembered by all.
