MATTOON -- The Coles County Sheriff’s Department is selling t-shirts to raise funds in support of those fighting breast cancer. All proceeds will be donated to Sarah Bush Lincoln’s Regional Cancer Center.
This is the first year the department has sold shirts and the response has been tremendous, Administrative Assistant Heather Drake said. “We have already sold 200 shirts and are currently taking pre-orders for more.”
Drake designed the shirts with the tagline “Putting the Cuffs on Cancer” in hopes of raising awareness and helping people whose lives have been impacted by breast cancer. “It’s a cause that’s very near and dear to my heart. I lost my grandmother to breast cancer and my aunt had to have a double mastectomy. Any little bit we can donate to help people going through this is worthwhile,” she said.
To show their support, the Sheriff Department’s administrative staff and detectives will be wearing the shirts on Fridays during breast cancer awareness month in October.
To purchase a shirt, contact Drake by October 13 at the Sheriff’s Department at 217-348-0592. Shirts cost $15 (size small to XL) and $17 (size 2XL and 3XL). Sweatshirt hoodies are also available for $30 (size small to XL) and $32 (size 2XL and 3XL). The shirts can be picked up at the Coles County Sheriff’s Department or deliveries can be arranged.
