Ribeye cookout to help Studio III recover from fire
CASEY -- A ribeye sandwich cookout will be held on Saturday to help Studio III Dance & Tumbling Academy recover from a recent fire that destroyed the studio's building.
Studio III's dancers and cheerleaders, their teachers and parents and other supporters will host the cookout from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Martin's IGA of Casey, 505 North Illinois Route 49. Community members are invited to purchase a sandwich to help owner/operator Samantha Connelly re-establish Studio III, which opened in 2001.
Supporters also have organized a fundraiser at https://www.gofundme.com/help-studio-iii-rebuild. They reported that ashes were almost all that were left after the fire early Tuesday morning at the Studio III building along Northeast 13th Street.
"Among the many memories, trophies, pictures, awards and hours of hard work lost, there were also several other expensive items lost. Tumbling mats, mirrors, costumes, bars, music equipment, and other cheer, tumbling and dance necessities were just a few to begin," the supporters reported. Information about other fundraisers will be posted at the Studio III Dance & Tumbling Academy page on Facebook.
