Second Saturday Event to be held at library
ARTHUR -- Arthur Public Library, 225 S. Walnut, will host a Second Saturday event at 2 p.m. today.
Sharon White, a former costumer at the Little Theatre on the Square, will talk about the many interesting people she met at the theater. This event is free. Everyone is welcome.

Astronomy night to be held at library
CHARLESTON -- The Charleston Carnegie Public Library’s Astronomy Night will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the library parking lot if the sky is clear.
Telescopes will be set up for participants' use and guided viewing in an informal question-and-answer format. This drop-in program is free and open to the public, but children under 13 must bring an adult. Feel free to bring your own telescope.

Teen crafting event to be held at library
CHARLESTON -- Teen Craftivity will meet from 5-6 p.m. Tuesday in the Zone at the Charleston Carnegie Public Library.
Middle school and high school students are invited to make a featured Do It Yourself project. This is a free program and is open to the community. A library card is not needed to attend.

Registration open for winter softball camp
OLNEY -- Olney Central College will host its annual Winter Softball Camp on Saturday, Feb. 3, in the OCC Gym.
The OCC coaching staff and players will lead the camp, which focuses on hitting and defense. Ages 6-12 will meet from 10 a.m. to noon while those ages 13-17 will meet from noon to 2 p.m. Participants should bring their gloves, bats, helmets and tennis shoes.

College Adult Education to offer free computer classes
MATTOON -- Lake Land College’s Adult Education will be offering free computer classes in various locations.
Classes begin Monday, Feb. 5, for the Effingham location; Tuesday, Feb. 6, for the Mattoon location; and Friday, Feb. 9, for the Pana location.
The four-week classes will include topics of Windows 7 and Word.
The schedule is as follows:
- Mattoon – Lake Land College Workforce Development Center, 305 Richmond Ave. East. Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5-7 p.m.
- Effingham – Kluthe Center for Higher Education and Technology, 1204 Network Centre Blvd. Mondays and Tuesdays, 2-4 p.m.
- Pana – Lake Land College Western Region Center, 600 East 1st St., Fridays 4-8 p.m.
