Guns Save Life to meet Wednesday
CHARLESTON -- The monthly meeting of Guns Save Life will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the banquet room at the Unique Suites Hotel, 920 West Lincoln Ave.
All meetings are open to the public and are family friendly. An optional dinner buffet, prepared by the Brickhouse Restaurant, will be available at 6 p.m. No reservations are necessary.
The scheduled speakers will be Haydee Ortiz and Holly Wasmuth, who will present information on hearing loss. There will be legislative updates, a 50/50 drawing and the monthly drawing for a gun.
Make plans now to attend a Special Ladies Night meeting on Feb. 14, Valentine's Day, next month.

Story time for adults to be held
EFFINGHAM -- "Feed on Fiction," a story time for adults, will continue to take place on Thursdays in 2018 from 12:15 to 12:45 p.m. in the Fearday Family Café. This lunchtime short fiction presentation is timed to fit into the lunch hour.
Bring your lunch, a quiet hobby, or simply stare out the café windows while listening to Angie Steineman share a short story.
SAIL to hold scams, fraud, and ID theft workshop
LOVINGTON -- SAIL, Soyland Access to Independent Living, will host a free workshop about Scams, Fraud and ID Theft on Jan. 16 from 1:30-3 p.m. at the Lovington Public Library, 110 W. State St.
The speaker is Shari Rowe, postal inspector with United States Postal Inspection Service.
