Retirement open house to be held at LifeSpan Center
CHARLESTON --- The public is invited to attend a Retirement Open House in honor of Dee Braden for 41 years of service to the Coles County Council on Aging from 3-6 p.m. Thursday to be held at the LifeSpan Center, 11021 East County Road 800 North. A recognition program will start at 3 p.m., followed by refreshments.

Christmas film to be screened at library
CHARLESTON -- Join the Charleston library for a classic Christmas movie at 4 p.m. Thursday on the big screen in Rotary Room B at the Charleston Carnegie Public Library.
This animated film by Robert Zemeckis is based on children's author Chris Van Allsburg's modern holiday classic of the same name. Feel free to bring your own snacks and drinks to enjoy during the show.

Christmas concert to be held at Toledo Life Center
TOLEDO -- A Christmas concert will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Life Center, 507 East Main St., with Maximum Forte performing.
Maximum Forte is the premiere auditioned contemporary a cappella outreach performing ensemble from Charleston High School. Established in 2012, Maximum Forte not only performs for local civic and fundraising events, but has been featured performers at the Kettering National A Cappella Festival in Ohio, the East Central Illinois Youth in Harmony Festival, has qualified as both Semi-finalists and Quarterfinalists in the Midwest with the International Competition for High School A Cappella (ICHSA), otherwise known as the "Pitch Perfect" competition, and has performed in both New Orleans and New York City.
Donations will be accepted; dessert and beverages will be provided.
