International Women’s Day to be observed

EFFINGHAM -- The Effingham Public Library will host a special event for International Women’s Day at 6 p.m. Thursday.

Participants will discuss "Crazy Salad" by Nora Ephron, listen to parts of her interview with Studs Terkel from the Studs Terkel Archives Initiative and create a crazy salad to celebrate International Women’s Day.

Copies of the book will be available to check out from the library, though reading the book is not necessary as the discussion will be wide ranging.

Registration is required. To register, call the library at 217-342-2464, ext. 1, email or register online at

This event was made possible thanks to a grant from Illinois Humanities Council.
