Duplicate Bridge results announced

CHARLESTON -- The results of the duplicate bridge game played on Nov. 6 are:

The next game will be played on Monday at 6:45 p.m. at First Christian Church in Charleston.

Alpha Upsilon to hold business meeting

MATTOON -- Alpha Upsilon Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha will hold their November business meeting on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in the Mattoon Area Family YMCA meeting room. The educational guest speaker will be Blake Leitch from the Coles County Veterans Support Coalition.

Members are reminded to bring their donations of socks and underwear for the One Stop Community Christmas Event.

College celebrates International Education Week

MATTOON -- Lake Land College’s International Student Club is celebrating International Education week with a special Show ‘N Tell event from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday in the Luther Student Center Lobby where international students will share their culture with campus and the community.

This event is free and open to the public.

Genealogical society to hold annual meeting

SULLIVAN -- The Moultrie County Historical and Genealogical Society will hold its annual meeting on Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Sullivan First United Methodist Church located across from the Sullivan fire station.

Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. with a cost of $15 and will be prepared and served by the United Methodist Women. Reservations need to be in ASAP and walk-ins will be welcome. Reservations can be made at the Heritage Center or the Stone Law Office.

The program will be presented by Janet Roney and she will share the story of how the society was formed 50 years ago. All 14 remaining charter members are being asked to attend the celebration of the event and be recognized for their years of service and support.

The entertainment will be presented by the “Keenagers” who will entertain as a band playing music with historic kitchen utensils. The “Keenagers” number about 18 or 19 folks from the Arthur area.

The Heritage Center will be closed on Veterans Day, Saturday, Nov. 11, and again on Saturday, Nov. 18, due to a lack of staffing.
