Books Between Bites
to hold next meeting
MATTOON -- Books Between Bites will meet at noon Monday in the Mattoon Public Library conference room.
Carol Ann Parker will review "Beneath A Scarlet Sky" by Mark Sullivan. This is the true story of Pino Lella, a real-life unsung hero of World War II. At the age of 17, he was pushed headlong into the horrors of war.
The public is invited and participants may bring their lunch. Coffee and ice tea will be provided.
'Wits Fitness Brain Training'
class registration now open
SULLIVAN -- At 1 p.m. Nov. 27, a special edition of the “Wits Fitness Brain Training” class will be held at Mid-Illinois Senior Services in Sullivan.
University of Illinois Extension Educator Caitlin Huth will present “Food for Thought,” where she will discuss different nutrients that benefit brain health and ideas on adding brain health foods to diets.
There will be a food demonstration, taste testing and recipes for all participants. There is no cost to attend, but registration is recommended by calling the Extension office at 217-543-3755.
PARIS -- Family Medical Centers in Paris, Chrisman, and Oakland will be closed Thursday, Nov. 23 and Friday, Nov. 24 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.
The EZ Care walk-in clinic, located at 2200 S. Main St. in Paris, will be closed Thursday. EZ Care will have regular hours on Friday, Nov. 24, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Weekend hours remain unchanged, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
EZ Care is open 362 days a year, closing only on Eastern, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
