EIU Choral Ensembles to present concert

CHARLESTON -- EIU Choral Ensembles will present a "Songs of Love" concert at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Dvorak Concert Hall, Doudna Fine Arts Center, on the campus of Eastern Illinois University.

Richard Robert Rossi is the conductor, and the special guest artist will be Andrea Pope, mezzo-soprano.

This event is sponsored in part by a gift from Herbert and Jane Lasky.

Duplicate bridge results announced

CHARLESTON -- The results of the Sectional Tournament at Clubs duplicate bridge game played on Feb. 5 are:

  • 2 Ann Lang - Keith Atteberry
  • 2B Dan Drake - Brian Poelker

The next game will be on Monday at 6:45 p.m. at First Christian Church in Charleston.

Library to hold Valentine's Story Time 

CHARLESTON -- Charleston Carnegie Public Library will be having a pre-school Valentine Story Time on Monday at 10:30 a.m., 1:15 p.m., or 5:30 p.m.

Wake up Mr. Turtle and enjoy stories, songs, and crafts all about the upcoming holiday, Valentine’s Day. This is one program, but with three different times to come and enjoy the fun. This is a free program, open to the public. A library card is not needed to attend.

Blood drive, health care supply drive to be held

NEOGA -- Donate blood at an American Red Cross Blood Drive from 1-6 p.m. Tuesday at the Neoga High School gym. If 40 units of blood are donated, one student will be awarded a scholarship from the American Red Cross.

In addition to this year’s blood drive, the Neoga Health Care Club is also holding a supply drive for the Effingham Crisis Nursery Center. Organizers were given a list of supplies that they need which includes cleaning wipes (Clorox, Lysol, etc.), Kleenex, diapers (sizes 4, 5, 6), pull ups (sizes 3t, 4t, 5t), winter play clothes and spring clothes (size 3t, 4t, 5t, 6t), fruit snacks, juice boxes, goldfish, animal crackers, and easy mac.

Alpha Upsilon to hold business meeting

MATTOON -- Alpha Upsilon Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha members will hold their February business meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Fellowship Center in Mattoon. Paula Winchester will be the educational speaker.

Those who volunteered for treats for the DDC Valentine Party are reminded to deliver them to Franklin School by 10 a.m. Wednesday.
