Class of 1958 to meet for breakfast

Annual dinner planned at Life Center

TOLEDO -- This month the Life Center of Cumberland County will celebrate 37 years of service to Cumberland and Clark counties. Each year the center recognizes milestones with an annual dinner and meeting.

The event will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Life Center. Peace Meal will prepare the meal consisting of choice of mostaccioli or chicken along with seven layer salad, potatoes, rolls and pie.

Contributions to the Life Center will be recognized and members will elect Board of Director officers for the next fiscal year. The Volunteer of the Year will be announced and recognized at the dinner and entertainment will also be provided. Door prizes will be given.

The public is invited, but make your reservation early as the building can comfortably hold only 90 people. Cost of the meal is $5 for each person. RSVP at 217-849-3965 or stop by the center any weekday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Douglas-Hart seeking volunteers for Haunted Hike

MATTOON -- Douglas-Hart is seeking volunteers for their Haunted Hike held Friday, Oct. 27 and Saturday, Oct. 28.

Sign up to help as a costumed monster, a special effects operator, or a concessions attendant on one or both nights. Volunteer commitment is 4-9:30 p.m. either evening. Families, scouts, couples, and clubs are invited to sign up and scare together. Youth under 13 must be with an adult.

Registration open for Chair Yoga Class at Effingham Public Library

EFFINGHAM -- Local yoga instructor Jessica Closson will lead a Chair Yoga Class for adults at the Suzette Brumleve Memorial Effingham Public Library on Saturday, Oct. 21 at 10 a.m. in the library’s Workman Room.

Participants are encouraged to bring a towel and water bottle and to wear comfortable clothes. The class will last for an hour. Registration is required.
