Adult Winter Read program to begin at library
CHARLESTON -- Charleston Public Library is holding an adult reading program where you warm up with a good book to help fight the chilly temps. Read as much as you like. Enter each book that you’ve read between Feb. 1-28 online at www.charlestonlibrary.org.
For each book you’ve read (does not have to be a library book), you get to pick which grand prize drawing you would like to enter!
Grand prizes include:
- Emily Jeanne Designs blanket scarf and a Kindle Fire 7
- $50 in Alamo Steakhouse & Saloon gift cards and $20 AMC gift card
- Two tickets to any 2018 show of your choice at the Little Theatre On the Square
- $50 Starbucks gift card & Starbucks Cookie Decorating Kit
No registration is required. Please ask staff if you need any help with submissions. Participants do not need a library card or read library items.

Clark County 4-H Carnival to be held
CASEY -- The Clark County 4-H Carnival has been an annual tradition for families and this year’s carnival will once again offer fun for the entire family, young and old. The event will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Saturday at the Roosevelt Community Center, 401 E. Main St.
Play games, win prizes and join in the fun at the annual cakewalk. The public is invited; there are games for youth of all ages. There is a minimal charge of $2 per every 10-carnival tickets and a concession stand will be available.
Cast your vote for a favorite carnival prince, princess, king and queen as well as play the many carnival games created by the Clark County 4-H Clubs.

Casey-Westfield band fundraiser planned
CASEY -- The Casey-Westfield band will be having a Band Binga on Sunday at Roosevelt Junior High School. Tickets are $10 each and may be purchased from high school and junior high band members or by calling the high school at 217-932-2175.
The doors will open at 12:30 p.m. People may come and eat lunch at the junior high before the games begin. Games will begin at 1:30 p.m.
Vendor prizes include: Longerberger, 31, Alliance (John Deere) tractor, jewelry, Pampered Chef, Candy Depot, Gift Cards, Scentsy, Silver Coins from Casey State Bank and First Neighbor Bank, Birkey's, Avon, artwork donated by Amy Holman, and more.
In addition, door prizes will be handed out from local merchants between games. There will also be a 50/50 drawing and other prize drawings. Menu items include: pork barbecue sandwich, hot dog, chips, veggies and dip, coffee cakes, cookies, pop, and bottled water.
