'Mighty Charitable Arts Players' to perform

CHARLESTON -- The "Mighty Charitable Arts Players" return to the stage for the second annual dramatic reading of Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" and Christmas Carol Sing along at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Newman Catholic Center, 500 Roosevelt Ave.

Featuring the voice talents of favorite area actors, the production includes familiar Christmas carols interspersed in the action for audience singing. Actors bringing this traditional Christmas tale to life are Tim and Gail Mason, Judi Vaughn, Matt Piescinski, Patrick Coulton, Roy Lanham, Christopher Cougill, David Lauzon, and Gavril Amartey. Musical accompaniment will be provided by pianist Linda Kirk and violinist Terry Coulton.

Cookies and wassail will be provided at intermission. All are welcome to attend; the production is suitable for children. A free-will donation will be accepted to support the work of the Saint Vincent de Paul Society which assists community members in need with rent, food, utilities, medicine and transportation.

St. Mary School Christmas Bazaar to be held

MATTOON -- The St. Mary Parent-Teacher Guild is hosting their fourth annual vendor and craft fair from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday at St. Mary School, 2000 Richmond Ave.

Santa will be there from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and they are offering free babysitting while you shop the over 20 vendors and crafters.
