Movie Matinee to be held at New Life Church

SULLIVAN -- Join the New Life Church in Sullivan for their next Movie Day, a screening of "Holy Ghost" and "How to Train Your Dragon 2" from 2-4 p.m. Saturday. "Holy Ghost" is a 2014 American Christian documentary film written and directed by Darren Wilson, to take the viewer to locations around the world to see if the Holy Spirit can really lead a film.

Chuck Crain to perform at Oak Grove Baptist

Chuck Crain in Concert at Allenville Christian

ALLENVILLE -- The Allenville Christian Church will host Chuck Crain at 5 p.m. Sunday for an evening of gospel music.

Crain is from Branson, Mo., where he sings with "The Presleys" each Sunday evening on RFD-TV at 6:30 p.m. His wife Sharon travels with him during the off-season and sings with him on a few songs.

A free will offering will be taken. Cookies and drinks will be served following the program.

Effingham Deanery Monthly Prayer Vigil for Life scheduled

SHUMWAY -- The Effingham Deanery Monthly Prayer Vigil for Life will be held at St. Mary's Church, Fourth St., Shumway, on Monday. Praying the scriptural rosary will begin at 6 p.m. Fr. Ron Lorilla will be the celebrant and homilist for the 6:30 p.m. mass. Everyone is invited to join us in prayer for respect of all life, born and unborn.

The 7:30 p.m. business meeting will follow in the lower level of the church. Refreshments will be served while current pro-family legislation and information on local pro-life events are discussed. Pro-life literature, books, letter/bumper stickers, jewelry and book marks will be available.
