Bingo Night to be held at First United Methodist Church

MATTOON -- Bingo night for all ages will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church. Childcare is provided. Each Bingo card you buy will cost a donation. You can use the same card for all the bingo games throughout the night. Prizes will be donated by different people, organizations and companies. Prizes will consist of gift cards, pies, t-shirts, gift certificates and more. Murder Mystery Dinner to be held at Praise Assembly of God

Neoga Community Cantata Rehearsals continue

NEOGA -- The community of Neoga will be joining together to present the Christmas Cantata "O Night Divine" this year. Any interested community member or high school student is invited to join in the program. Rehearsals and the performances will be in the sanctuary at the Grace United Methodist Church. The first rehearsal was Oct. 8 and will continue every Sunday from 4-5:30 p.m. Kirby Davis will be directing the cantata. The performances of the Cantata are scheduled for Dec. 9 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 10 at 4 p.m. A fee of $10 will be asked of each cantata performer to help cover the cost of the booklet and accompaniment CD.

Homecoming Gospel Choir to perform at Casey First Baptist

CASEY -- The Homecoming Gospel Choir, under the direction of John and Judy Roberts, will once again bless Casey and the surrounding area with an 80 voice Gaither style choir and instrumentalists.

The event is scheduled for 6 p.m., Sunday at the Casey First Baptist Church, 101 East Alabama, Casey. The upbeat, fast-paced three hour presentation will feature 80 voices and nine instrumentalists from across southern Illinois as well as soloists, duets, trios, and quartets. Featured soloist is Abby Paskvan from Bowling Green, Ohio. The choir will present traditional hymns and southern gospel style songs in the true Gaither tradition. For an unforgettable evening of musical worship and praise, don’t miss the Homecoming Gospel Choir at the Casey First Baptist Church. Doors open at 5 p.m. There is no admission. Monthly Prayer for Life Vigil to be held in Charleston

CHARLESTON -- The Effingham Deanery Monthly Prayer Vigil for Life will be held at St. Charles Borromeo in Charleston on Monday. Praying the scriptural rosary will begin at 6 p.m. Fr. Hyland Smith will be the celebrant and homilist for the 6:30 p.m. mass.

The 7:30 p.m. business meeting will follow in the parish hall. Refreshments will be served while current pro-family legislation and local pro-life events are discussed. Pro-life literature, books, letter/bumper stickers, jewelry and book marks will be available.
