Drive-in theater event to be held at Vineyard Church

SULLIVAN -- The Vineyard Church, 1805 S. Hamilton St., will host a Drive-In Theatre Event at 7:30 p.m. today. Please bring blankets and lawn chairs. Snacks will be provided. The film will start at 8:30 p.m.

First Christian Church to hold men's breakfast

MATTOON -- First Christian Church is conducting a men's breakfast from 7 to 8:15 a.m. Saturday. All men of faith are invited. First-time guests eat free. A $3 donation is requested for church members.

The menu will include biscuits and gravy, bacon, scrambled eggs, and fruit salad, coffee and water.

After the breakfast the men will learn from Eric Geiger, "Unfolded." He is unfolding the land and the kingdom of the Bible, which covers the 1000BC era.

After table discussion, an opportunity to pray or to be prayed for by Pastor Richard is offered.

MATTOON -- This Sunday morning the East Side Church of the Nazarene will be holding regular Sunday School for all ages and worship at 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., with a special guest singer in the 6 p.m. evening service.

Free movie screening set at First Christian

SULLIVAN -- If you didn't catch "The Shack" when it was released, now's your chance. On Sunday there will be showing of "The Shack" at 2 p.m. at First Christian Church in Sullivan. Admission is free.

After the abduction and presumed death of Mackenzie Allen Phillips' youngest daughter, Missy, Mack receives a letter and suspects it is from God, asking him to return to The Shack where Missy may have been murdered. After contemplating it, he leaves his home to go to The Shack for the first time since Missy's abduction and has an encounter that will change his life forever.

Katie Schuermann book signing scheduled

Freedomfest to be held in Paris

PARIS -- Freedomfest is an outdoor celebration of American freedom planned from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Sunday at Lake Ridge Christian Church, 122 E. Steidl, Road.

There will be a little something for everyone: family games at the tables, lawn Twister, giant Jenga, lawn Yahtzee, giant Connect 4, sidewalk chalk, memory, bubbles, and even a dunk tank.

Brant Hansen speaking at Central Christian Church
