Fall Breakfast and Raffle to be held at St. Joseph
TEUTOPOLIS -- St. Isidore Parish, St. Joseph Church (Island Grove), located at 16987 N 200th St., will be having its 40th annual Fall Breakfast and Raffle from 7 a.m. to noon on Sunday at the St. Joseph Church Parish Center.
The menu will include whole hog sausage, ham, pancakes, fried eggs, scrambled eggs, homemade breads and rolls, orange juice, milk and coffee. Cost is $4 for 10 years and under and $7 for 11 years and older. The country store, which will contain homemade baked goods from the members of the parish, will be open from 7 a.m. to noon.
The drawing for the quilt and big raffle (top prize $500 cash) will be at noon (do not need to be present to win). Tickets for the quilt and big raffle will be available for purchase during the breakfast. Uncooked frozen sausage will be available for purchase starting at 7 a.m.
Stew supper and family fellowship to be held

Churches join forces for Blessing of the Pets event
MATTOON -- Two Mattoon churches are joining forces to hold a unique service for pet owners. First United Methodist Church and Trinity Episcopal Church of Mattoon are holding a Blessing of the Pets at 2 p.m. Sunday at Friendship Park, located at 17th and Lafayette in Mattoon.
Many pets are considered members of the family and brighten up a home with their unique personalities. According to the Bible, God is concerned with the welfare of animals as well as humans.
Pet owners are invited to bring either their pet or a photo of their pet to the park for a blessing by clergymen Jeff Kozuszek of Trinity Episcopal Church and Michael Smith of First United Methodist Church. The service is open to any interested pet owners and all types of pets.

Youth Program continues at Cumberland Presbyterian
MARTINSVILLE -- “Willow Creatures,” the Wednesday night youth program at the Willow Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church, kicked off Sept 6.
The 2017-18 year will offer classes on Wednesday evenings for preschool through college ages. A meal will be served each week, starting at 6:15 p.m. The program will dismiss at 7:45 p.m.
