Tickets available for upcoming Christmas performance
CASEY -- The Lesters and The Chosen Ones, two well-known gospel groups, will once again present the “Celebrate Christmas, Family Style” dinner concert at Richards Farm Restaurant in Casey on Friday, Dec. 1, at 6 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 2, at noon.
Tickets are $25 per person and include a buffet-style meal and concert. They can be purchased by calling the Casey White Oak Church of God at 217-932-5771, or by mailing a self-addressed, stamped envelope with your check or money order to Casey White Oak Church of God, 3305 E 1000th Road, Casey, Illinois 62420. Make checks payable to The Chosen Ones.
Richard’s Farm Restaurant is located at 607 NE 13th St. in Casey.

Fall rummage sale to be held at St. John Lutheran
MATTOON -- A fall rummage sale will be held from 3-6 p.m. today and from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at St. John Lutheran Church in Mattoon.
There will be a Christmas and a boutique section along with a bake sale. Bag sales, $2 each, will be held at noon Saturday.
Annual fall festival and chili cook-off set
MATTOON -- Join the Family Worship Center for their annual fall festival and Chili Cook-Off Competition from 3-6 p.m. Saturdady at 5475 Lerna Rd.
This free, fun-filled event is open to the community and will feature a variety of bounce houses, pumpkin bowling, corn toss, pumpkin ring-toss, cake walk, cotton candy, Sno-Cones, popcorn, prizes, chili cook-off, music and hotdogs by Kep's Cooking.

Woodsmen Quartet to perform at Providence SB Church
CHARLESTON -- The Woodsmen Gospel Quartet from Batesville, Ind., will be bringing the morning worship service at 10 a.m. Sunday at Charleston Providence SB Church.
Popular in this area, The Woodsmen appeared at this year's Coles County Fair Gospel Sing. They offer a variety of gospel music ranging from standard church favorites to new music, all presented in worship and praise.

Old State Road Christian Church to hold book club
CHARLESTON -- The Old State Road Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Charleston will host their next Saturday Morning Book Club at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 14.
The book discussed will be "Learning to Walk in the Dark" written by Barbara Brown Taylor. Taylor has become increasingly uncomfortable with our tendency to associate all that is good with lightness and all that is evil with darkness. Doesn't God work in the nighttime as well? In this book, Taylor asks us to put aside our fears and anxieties and to explore all that God has to teach us "in the dark."

Buddy Liles to perform during special music services
OAKLAND -- A special music service will guest singer Buddy Liles will be held at 7 p.m. Oct. 16 at Oak Grove Separate Baptist located south of Oakland.
