First United to hold Christmas Choral Service
MATTOON -- Mattoon First United Methodist Church will hold its annual Christmas Choral Service at 10 a.m. Sunday.
The service starts at 10 a.m. and will feature Christmas anthems by the First United Methodist Church choirs, directed by the Rev. Allen Webner. Included will be instrumentalists Marilyn Fessel on flute and Elaine Fine on viola, along with Melissa Ferguson on piano. There will also be a prelude by the handbell choir, Brass Wave, directed by Phyllis Dickinson.
Sunday’s service will also include Christmas hymns and a sermon by First United Methodist Church pastor, the Rev. Michael Smith. The public is welcome.

There are readings, prayers, a few songs, and a time to light candles for those who wish, asking the God of love to guide them.
