Pray It Forward event to be held

ARTHUR -- Pray It Forward meets in the "Upper Room" of Vine Street Christian Church, 249 S. Vine St., every Wednesday at 9 a.m.

They will pray for church family, shut-ins, their hospital and sick list, their minister, ministry teams, church staff and the world. All are welcome.

'Stronger: A Night for Tween/Teen Girls' planned

EFFINGHAM -- Kari Kampakis, a blogger, author, speaker, and newspaper columnist from Birmingham, Ala. will speak at Christ's Church, 2511 S. Veterans Drive, this Saturday.

Her two books for teen and tween girls, "10 Ultimate Truths Girls Should Know" and "Liked: Whose Approval Are You Living For," have been used widely across the country by teen youth groups and small groups to empower girls through faith.

Kampakis's topic will be "Dear Girls, You are Stronger Than You Think", preparing them to face the challenges and hurdles that life brings. After a short break she will finish up talking about the important topic of friendship.

Girls from fifth through ninth grades are invited to attend along with their mother or other special woman in their life this Saturday. Admission is free and open to the public. Doors open at 6 p.m.

Fox Ridge Foundation Pancake Breakfast set

CHARLESTON -- Wesley United Methodist Church will once again hold their annual pancake and sausage breakfast to benefit Fox Ridge State Park, hosted by Fox Ridge Foundation at Wesley United Methodist Church gymnasium, from 7-11 a.m. Saturday.

Charleston-Mattoon Christian Women's Club to meet

CHARLESTON -- Everyone is invited to a luncheon from noon-1:30 p.m. Thursday, $9 inclusive, at the LifeSpan Center.

The theme for this event is "Set 'Sale'". The speaker will be Judy Vader of Escamba, Mich., speaking on "Navigating Life's Choppy Waters." A book and magazine exchange will also be held; bring books and magazines to exchange with others.
