Singles to hold game night
MATTOON -- Singles at First is hosting a game night from 6-8 p.m. today at First Christian Church located at 1600 Wabash. They will be playing dominoes.

Fish and chicken fry planned tonight
SHELBYVILLE -- A fish and chicken fry will be held from 5-7 p.m. today at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The menu includes fried fish and chicken strips, baked potato or french fries, cole slaw or applesauce, dessert, and drink. Cost for adults is $9 and kids 5-12 are $4.

Shop and eat a lunch of either ham loaf or escalloped chicken with a vegetable, salad, bread, dessert & beverage. Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Featured will be holiday crafts, a cookie walk, baked goodies, candy, and pecans; baked goods and candies in the Country Store; homemade cookies on the Cookie Walk; and collectibles in Granny's Cupboard.

Annual Santa Brigade Breakfast and market to be held
STRASBURG -- The Strasburg Community Action Network (SCAN) will hold its annual Santa Brigade and Breakfast on Saturday.
This year the all-you-can-eat breakfast will be held in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Social Hall. Breakfast will be served from 6-11 a.m. The church is right on Illinois Route 32 on the south side of town. The all-you-can-eat breakfast is free will donation and will consist of smoked sausage, pancakes, applesauce and drinks.
The Holiday Market opens at 7 a.m. and has over 30 vendors signed up and ready for you to begin your Christmas shopping with them. The market will be in the St. Paul’s gym. SCAN will be once again selling its Black Forest Wooden Santas.

Benefit for Les Todd to be held
MATTOON -- A benefit for Les Todd will be held from 2-7 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church in Mattoon.
There will be a Quarter Auction at 2 p.m., a soup and sandwich meal, with dessert and drink after the auction; Chinese Raffle; 50/50 raffle; entertainment and more until 7 p.m.
Todd was diagnosed with colon cancer and was in remission until June of this year, when he and his family found out the cancer was back. He had major surgery in July. He is going through six months of chemotherapy to hopefully clear the rest of the cancer in his lymph nodes. The family also has a special needs adult in the household to take care of.
