This dog and cat are available for adoption at the County Animal Rescue and Education Center. The cat is a 1-year-old spayed female calico. The dog is a 1-to-2-year-old female hound mix. She does not get along with other dogs.

The CARE center is in need of donated used or new dog houses. The dog houses can be brought to the CARE center, or the center will pick up the dog houses if necessary. For pick-up, call 217-345-4112 or 217-345-4114.

The CARE center, located on the Loxa Road, one mile south of Illinois Route 16, is open from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.

The fee to adopt a dog is $41 from the CARE center, and cats are $35 each. Cats that are 5-years-old and older are $15 each. There is a $6 fee for microchipping. All dogs and cats leaving the shelter are required to be microchipped. All cats must now be registered within 30 days of adoption.
