Alpha Upsilon to hold meeting Tuesday

The Alpha Upsilon Sorority will have its business meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Mattoon YMCA Community Room. The Mattoon Police K-9 Unit will be the presenter.

Sorority members who are unable to attend should contact Suzi at 217-460-1078. Members are also reminded to bring three dozen cookies to this meeting.

Pegtown to meet Wednesday

The Pegtown Women's Association will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Pagliacci's in Mattoon.

The guest speaker will be Suzi Coffman with the Public Action to Deliver Shelter (PADS) homeless shelter in Mattoon. RSVP to Brenda at 217-234-2883.

Hilltop to host Mother's Day Tea Sunday; set informational meeting

A Mother’s Day Tea will be held at Hilltop Skilled Nursing & Rehab at 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

Residents, guests and staff will select from a variety of tea and gourmet sandwiches prepared by Chef Jeremy. Also planned is a time of gifts, games and fun. For more information, contact Rachel Cox at 217-345-7066.

Moultrie historical society to meet Thursday

The Moultrie County Historical and Genealogical Society will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Heritage Center, located at 117 East Harrison

St. in Sullivan.

Charles Steck from Arthur will tell about his quest to find his family members in Germany, with the help of a niece in St. Louis who had a computer, and a cousin he located in Germany.

The German cousin did a lot of invaluable research through church and government records. Steck eventually went to Germany to visit with his relatives and see the villages where his family members had lived.

A social hour will follow the program with refreshments served. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Shelbyville Monthly Quarter Auction set Thursday

A monthly Quarter Auction has been organized to raise funds for nonprofit organizations. It will be held Thursday at Shelby County Senior Center, 325 E. North Ninth St., Shelbyville. Doors open to the public at 5:30 p.m., with the auction commencing at 6:30 p.m. This month the proceeds will go to Shelby Synergy Softball Team.

This event will offer items donated from vendors and crafters. Participating vendors are Plexus, Paparazzi, Massage Therapy, Younique, Pink Zebra, Scentsy, Shimmering Glass Yard Decor, Touchstone Crystal, Thirty One, Tastefully Simple, Jamberry Nails, Origami Owl, Pampered Chef, Wild Tree, For Tails Only, Uppercase Living, Dove Chocolate, Mary Kay, Whetstone Craft, Tupperware, Instantly Ageless, and Yellow Brick Candle.
