The Soup Stop Board Meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church in Charleston.

Anyone interested is invited to attend.

Quilts Etc.

to meet Monday

Quilts Etc. will meet at 9:30 a.m. Monday in the 4-H Center at the Coles County Fairgrounds in Charleston.

Anyone interested in quilting, from a beginner to an advanced level, is invited to join this group.

Participants are asked to bring a project to work on; a sewing machine, if desired; all the necessary tools; something for show and tell; and a sack lunch.

Meetings are held on the first Monday of each month.

Liberty Post 289 American Legion

to host fundraiser

The December Christmas Auction sponsored by Liberty Post 289 of the American Legion will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Community Building in Strasburg.

The auction is the major fundraiser for the American Legion Post. The post uses the proceeds from the auction to donate the annual Easter Egg Hunt, Americanism Essay prize money, Legion Baseball, the Strasburg Veteran’s Memorial, Community Blood Drive, Stewardson-Strasburg Yearbook, Post Prom Activities, and American Legion Gifts to Yanks among other programs.

Auction items include trains, tools, toy tractors, figurines, baskets, bikes, curved glass china cabinets, yard ornaments, Nascar items, blankets, Christmas items and much more.

A concession stand sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 289 will be available.

Annual Christmas tree auction open for bidding

The Charleston Carnegie Public Library has announced its 12th annual Christmas Tree Silent Auction.

A collection of decorated trees and wreaths will be on display and open for bidding beginning today and ending at 4 p.m. Dec. 10.

The opening bid for all items is $15 with $1 minimum incremental bidding.

Winning bidders not present at the close of the auction will be notified by phone and all winners may take their fabulous trees home that day.

All proceeds will go towards the library’s programming and materials.
