On Saturday, March 24, the Mattoon Area Family YMCA, in collaboration with the Broadway Christian Church, will hold the annual Easter Egg Extravaganza. This year the event will be held outside at Lytle Park.
The Easter Egg Extravaganza will begin at 10 a.m. with games and the opportunity for kids to meet the Easter bunny. At 11 a.m. the hunt for Easter eggs will begin. Children up to age 12 may participate with kids divided into four age groups for the hunt. Each child will need to bring an Easter egg basket or a bag for collecting their eggs.
The Easter Egg Extravaganza is a free event offered to the entire community. All participants will need an adult to sign a waiver before participating in the games, activities and egg hunt. Please be sure to bring your camera so you can capture the smiles while your child visits with the Easter Bunny and searches for hidden eggs.
Thank you to the generous community members who donated eggs and candy to make this event special for the kids. We also thank the Broadway Christian Church volunteers who also volunteer their time and talents.
We are hopeful the weather will present a great day for hunting eggs, but in the event of inclement weather, the Easter Egg Extravaganza will be cancelled. If cancelled, we encourage you to attend Easter services at Broadway Christian Church, where you will also have the opportunity to gather eggs.
