CHARLESTON (JG-TC) — Approval of the upcoming fiscal year budget and a request for appropriations for the following year are scheduled for votes by the Eastern Illinois University Board of Trustees on Monday.

According to information from the university, the state appropriations request for the 2015 fiscal year would be just more than $110 million. That’s a 1.7-percent increase from what’s expected for the 2014 fiscal year.

The board is scheduled to meet at 11:45 a.m. today at EIU’s Tarble Arts Center on South Ninth Street, Charleston. A closed session is set to start the meeting with the open part of the meeting scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m.

There are also several purchase and expenditure approvals on the meeting’s agenda, including:

Why does a University spend so much in outside legal fees and have attorneys on staff. Just curious.
