MATTOON (JG-TC) — The Lake Land College Board of Trustees today will take a vote to release a $5.35 million bond to pay off a note incurred while renovating the main campus’s Webb Hall.

The board is scheduled to meet at 6:30 p.m. today at the Workforce Development Center, 305 Richmond Ave., Mattoon.

During the Dec. 10 meeting, the board hosted a public hearing, a necessary measure to release the bonds, and no one made a statement.

Renovations on the building took place over the summer.

Also during tonight’s meeting, the board plans to vote to renew the treasurer’s bond, which will increase by about $379 because of a rate hike, according to a memo from the consultant. Other agenda items include a closed session to discuss the release of closed session minutes, and votes on the 2013 board schedule and the faculty seniority listing.

"closed sessions"? What's up with that? Can't the tax paying public handle the truth or does it need to be hidden from the light of day?
