CHARLESTON (JG-TC) -- The Charleston High School Winter Guard Drill Team has qualified for the Illinois Drill Team Association state finals.

The state competition will take place on Saturday in Springfield at the Prairie Capitol Convention Center. Performance times have not been announced. 

The team earned qualifying scores at the Regional AA Division competition in Mattoon on Jan. 28 in the lyrical flag category. It was the first time the team qualified for state competition since 1997.

The team's show is titled "War of Hearts" and was choreographed by team senior captain Allison Prayer, junior captain Jaidyn Williams and senior members Karly Coffey and Ravin Matheson.

The team is coached and directed by Angel Warman.
