KANKAKEE (JG-TC) -- Thomas Small pleaded guilty Friday to the murder of his wife in what's known in Coles County as the Airtight Bridge case.

In a plea agreement, Small was sentenced to 30 years in prison for the 1980 murder of Diane Small, according to the Kankakee Daily Journal newspaper.

Small was arrested in March after being questioned about the 1980 death of his wife in Kankakee County. Diane Small's body, with the head, hands and feet missing, was found in the Embarras River in a remote Coles County location on Oct. 19 of that year.

More details will be added to this report.
