CHARLESTON (JG-TC) -- Joseph M. Finley, 30, of Charleston was detained at 6:05 p.m. Saturday after fleeing police the day before, according to Coles County jail records.

Local police were in search of Finley for a day and a half after he allegedly fled police early Friday.

Tony West, Charleston police detective, confirmed that after receiving a tip about Finley's whereabouts, officers located him at the Unique Suites Hotel, 920 W Lincoln Ave., at approximately 4:45 p.m. Saturday.

West said he was "talked out" of the room and arrested with no further incident.

As previously reported, Finley and another, Lucas C. Walker, 23, of Charleston, allegedly took off during an attempted traffic stop at 10:08 a.m. Friday.

While Finley left on foot from the vehicle, Walker sped away at a high rate of speed, according to police.

West indicated this was not the first time Finley had fled police.

Charges for his arrest include resisting an officer and obstruction of justice.

Additionally, Finley had an active warrant out of Effingham County for a failure to appear in court.

He has been convicted in the past for manufacturing meth.
