MATTOON (JG-TC) -- Police officers arrested a local man on Saturday for allegedly trespassing in and damaging a vehicle at Motel 6.

A Mattoon Police Department press release reported that Carl J. Williams, 25, of Mattoon has been charged with theft, criminal damage to property, criminal trespass to a motor vehicle, and obstructing identification. The arrest took place at 1:07 p.m. Saturday in the 4200 block of Lake Land Boulevard.

The charges allege that Williams stole a candy bar from the Motel 6 lobby. Williams was then allegedly found in a vehicle that did not belong to him and allegedly damaged the center console. While being processed at the police station after his arrest, Williams is alleged to have been uncooperative in providing pertinent identification information. Williams was taken to the Coles County jail.

In other matters, Lucas T. Massey, 23, of Mattoon was arrested on a charge of domestic battery at 10:02 a.m. Saturday at the Buxton Drive Apartments along Lerna Road. The charge alleges that Massey struck a female several times during a domestic dispute on Friday. Massey was taken to the  jail.

Separately, Iris D. Henderson, 33, of Mattoon was arrested on a charge of aggravated assault at 1:16 p.m. Saturday in the 1800 block of South Ninth Street. The charge alleges that Henderson chased a male around a parking lot of an apartment complex with a knife. Henderson was issued a court date and was released.
