CHARLESTON (JG-TC) -- An Oakland man was arrested for sexual abuse and sexual assault Wednesday after a months-long investigation among multiple agencies.

Timothy D. Clapp, 62, was arrested after the Department of Children and Family Services investigated allegations of sexual assault and sexual abuse, according to Charleston police.

In September, the DCFS was assisted by the Charleston Police Department, the Coles County State Attorney's Office, the Coles County Sheriff's Office, the Oakland Police Department and the Children's Advocacy Center of East Central Illinois in the investigation.

According to Charleston police, the DCFS received "several" hotline calls and enlisted the help of local agencies to investigate further. The investigation led to a $150,000 arrest warrant for Clapp.

Clapp was arrested for predatory criminal sexual assault of a victim under 13 years old and aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a victim under the age of 18 and family. Clapp was sent to the Coles County jail but was later released on bond.
