CHARLESTON (JG-TC) -- City tourism funds were OK’d for advertising for the Embarras Valley Film Festival.

Charleston City Council members voted on the use funds at their meeting Tuesday. Eastern Illinois University’s Doudna Fine Arts Center has requested $600 in tourism funds to cover advertising expenses related to the film festival.

The film festival is a Eastern hosted event exploring and discussing film. According to the festival website, it is the festival’s 13th year-running.

The festival will run from Oct. 25-28.

Also, council members approved extending an insurance agreement with the Dimond Brothers Insurance Agency. According to meeting documents, Dimond Brothers is currently the broker of record for placement of property, casualty and worker’s compensation coverage and administration of an insurance program for the City of Charleston.

The new agreement would extend the city’s use of Dimond Brothers insurance to 2020.
