CHARLESTON (JG-TC) -- A groundbreaking ceremony for the next Coles County Habitat for Humanity home project is scheduled for Saturday morning.

The ceremony is set for 11 a.m. at the lot at 616 N. Fourth St., Charleston, which will be the home of Amber Pedigo and her two sons, according to a news release about the event.

The release said the ceremony is open to the public.

It also said anyone interested in volunteering for Habitat for Humanity or applying for a home through the organization can call the county chapter at 217-348-7063.

Through the program, homes are sold to low-income families at no profit with a zero-interest mortgage provided by Habitat for Humanity, the release said. Recipient families and other volunteers take part in construction.
